Laminam Appoints Selmi Managing Director

On 12 October 2009 Alberto Selmi undertook the position of Managing Director of Laminam (Fiorano, MO, Italy), the specialist company which is controlled by System Group SpA.

He heads the innovator which is "producing and trading the biggest and thinnest ceramic tiles in the world"; the Laminam slabs are produced thanks to the innovative manufacturing process patented by SYSTEM®.

Alberto Selmi carries on a wide managing experience in the ceramic field; his entry to the role is functional to the commercial development of Laminam slabs with all their applications and therefore to the wider spread of the production process of ceramic laminates sealed SYSTEM®.

Lamina is the only plant solution that makes it possible to produce a slab 3mm thick with an extremely reduced weight of 7kg/m2, providing huge savings in terms of production costs, logistics and transport. The product is a 3600mm x 1200mm or 1000mm x 3000mm single-size slab (after firing), from which it is possible to obtain various formats, thereby minimising the finished product stock.

Thanks to the use of standard mixtures, the innovative compaction system, Compatter® together with the hybrid firing system (electric-gas) generates a ceramic slab that is uniform, stable and without any stress. Through the use of composites to reinforce the ceramic slab, Lamina responds to all the safety standards and guarantees the maximum resistance to stress and rupture.

According to the latest company figures, only Lamina plant can boast 8 million square metres sold, produced in five different factories. The product can be used as ‘slab system’ in several ways: from the traditional building sector as a covering and floor to advanced building sectors such as second skin in ventilated façades, tunnels, photovoltaic applications, furnishing, naval and much more.
