Ancora Group Wins Double Contract in Bolivia

Ancora Group (Sassuolo, MO, Italy), a leading manufacturer of plant and machinery for end-of-line processing, has expanded and consolidated its presence in the South American market with a double order from the ceramic company Faboce Srl in Santa Cruz De La Sierra in Bolivia.

This major supply contract provides a further boost to the industry in Latin America, a strategic area for the sector and one of the Ancora Group's most important markets worldwide. This success vindicates the decision to open a new branch in Brazil, which has been operating since last spring with a view to offering an efficient and rapid after-sales service throughout South America. "This branch has given a considerable boost to our sales activities," explained Managing Director Fabio Corradini.

The plant will begin operation in the spring of 2010 and will produce glazed and unglazed porcelain tile. Faboce is a well known company in the sector which until now has produced terracotta roof tiles and bricks and imported ceramic products. Through the purchase of this plant, the company's owners, the Auzza family, has decided to start up local production of porcelain tile.

Two modern polishing and lapping lines will soon be operational in the Santa Cruz factory, complete with machinery for squaring, scoring and snapping to make sub-sizes. Both lines, designed and built by Ancora Group in its Sassuolo factory, were entirely produced in Italy.

The lapping machines will have the dual function of lapping glazed porcelain tile and polishing unglazed porcelain tile. Simply by changing tools (floating resin-bonded diamond tools for lapping glazed porcelain tile or magnesite-bonded abrasives for polishing unglazed porcelain tile), the plants can be optimised according to production requirements.

The Ancora Group is a well established industrial company capable of analysing requests and proposing technically and economically optimised solutions. In its areas of competence the mechanical division controls 90% of the Italian market and 75% of the foreign market, not including China and the Far East. The finishing division specialises in polishing, lapping, cutting and grinding of ceramic tiles and makes the Ancora Group the largest third party production centre in the world.
