Allegheny Technologies to Acquire Crucible Compaction Metals & Crucible Research Assets

Allegheny Technologies Inc (Pittsburgh, PA, USA) announced on 21 September 2009 that it expected to purchase the assets of Crucible Compaction Metals & Crucible Research for US$40.95 million as a result of an auction held on the same day, as part of a US Bankruptcy Court proceeding. The transaction is expected to close no later than 31 October 2009.

Allegheny Technologies Inc is one of the largest and most diversified specialty metals producers in the world with revenues of US$5.3 billion during 2008. ATI has approximately 8,700 full-time employees world-wide who use innovative technologies to offer global markets a wide range of specialty metals solutions.

Major markets are aerospace and defence, chemical process industry/oil and gas, electrical energy, medical, automotive, food equipment and appliance, machine and cutting tools, and construction and mining. Products include titanium and titanium alloys, nickel-based alloys and superalloys, grain-oriented electrical steel, stainless and specialty steels, zirconium, hafnium and niobium, tungsten materials, and forgings and castings.
