Former CERAM Employee is a Winner at the Tile Association Awards

Bill Walters, who recently retired from CERAM after forty-three years, has won the 'Outstanding Contribution to the Tile Industry' award at the Tile Assocation Annual Awards 2009. The award is made to an individual who has made a difference to the industry, not just within their own business environment.

After gaining an Honours degree in Physics at Manchester University, Bill started his career at what was then known as the British Ceramic Research Association (now CERAM). After early research work in ceramics, Bill spent the last eighteen years of his career specialising in the performance and installation of ceramic tiles. He sits on British, European and International Standards Committees and provides informed advice on TTA Technical Committees and Working Groups. Highly regarded as one of the UK’s principal experts in testing methods for ceramic tiles, Bill was a pioneer in testing slip resistance of floor tiles.
