Union Process Builds Attritor That Can Mill Wet or Dry

Union Process Inc (Akron, OH, USA), known globally as a manufacturer of size reduction and dispersing equipment for a broad range of industrial applications, has produced a new batch-type Attritor that offers the flexibility of allowing the customer to use it as either a wet or dry grinding mill.

By purchasing just one frame, tank, motor, gear reducer and drive, one can enjoy the flexibility of grinding either wet or dry. The only changeover required involves changing the shaft/arm assembly, the bottom discharge and, in some cases, the cover.

When operating as a wet grinding mill, the S-50 can handle a broad range of applications from ceramics and carbides to inks and chocolate. When operating as a dry grinding mill, the SD-50 (the ‘D’ designating dry grinding) can be used in applications ranging from metal powders to mechanical alloying, pigments, glass frits and minerals.

Because dry grinding requires more horsepower, the mill is built with a larger motor to accommodate this process.

Batch-type Attritors are ideal choices for fast, efficient grinding and repeatable results. The heavy-duty mills are manufactured for long-term, low maintenance operation.

Union Process is the inventor and developer of Attritor technology and manufactures wet and dry grinding mills as well as small media mills.
