Innovative, Environmentally Friendly Burner Launched

The latest proposal from Sacmi (Imola, BO, Italy), just launched on to the market, combines the trademark high performance of all its burners with the pressing requirement to save energy and minimise the impact of emissions on the environment. This twin objective is achieved in the new 40kW burner which functions with E85 fuel.

E85 is made up of 15% oil and 85% bio-ethanol and, the company states, can be properly considered an environmentally-friendly fuel since the carbon dioxide produced by the combustion process is absorbed by plants from where the bio-ethanol is extracted. Thanks to research carried out by Sacmi, E85 can now be used for applications in the ceramic industry; from sanitaryware to tiles and even tableware.

This innovative burner is said to guarantee excellent performances and can be considered the first model in a highly promising series. Sacmi’s aim is, in fact, to quickly reach the point of being able to set up more powerful burners which can be applied in larger kilns. A large part in this project is played by Riedhammer – the Sacmi Group company specialised in the production of kilns for sanitaryware, tableware and technical ceramics – which is in a position to fully exploit the potential of this new burner for future initiatives.

This new solution proposed by Sacmi falls within the sphere of the H.E.R.O. (High Efficiency Resource Optimiser) project developed by the company with the aim of pairing top production performances with reduction in energy consumption and optimisation of energy resources. The H.E.R.O. project involves all phases of the production process – from kilns to presses, from dryers to glazing and decoration stations – and guarantees an energy saving which can even reach a proven 20-30 percentage points.
