Computational Modelling

In almost every industry, driving product development through engineering simulation has become a key strategy to develop more innovative products, reduce development and manufacturing costs, and accelerate time to market. Leveraging the power of computational modelling to compress the product development process and drive down costs is no longer a choice - it's a requirement for survival in an increasingly competitive environment.

CERAM is taking engineering simulation a step further by combining state-of-the-art modelling software with specialised engineering know-how and in-house physical testing. We have a long history of developing and applying computational modelling to materials used in extreme conditions.

We provide a unique service in the form of a one-stop shop for consultancy and problem-solving:

  • Material selection and concept design
  • Performance improvement
  • Processing and manufacturing support
  • Failure analysis
  • Lifetime prediction
  • Research and development.

Techniques

Computer aided design (CAD) is used through Solidworks to create geometries for computational modelling. Apart from being able to determine material properties in-house, we have access to Granta's CES Selector, a rational materials and processes selection tool which has a vast material property database. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) are solved with a range of ANSYS products.

Engineering Analysis Solutions

Linear and non-linear analysis elastic and inelastic material behaviour including work hardening plasticity, non-metal plasticity, visco-plasticity, creep, temperature dependence, etc. Design optimisation. Topological (shape) optimisation. Probabilistic design. Design of experiments using Taguchi principles.

We specialise in the following areas:
