Refractory Testing

As a UKAS ISO 17025:2005 accredited testing laboratory, we provide a comprehensive testing service to both national and international standards.

We provide a full range of physical, chemical and mineralogical testing and can test refractory materials before or after use to confirm suitability or fitness for purpose.

Listed below is a selection of the tests we carry out:

  • Compressive stress/strain up to 1550°C
  • Flexural stress/strain up to 1600°C
  • Thermal conductivity
  • Modulus of elasticity, rigidity and Poisson's ratio
  • Hydrogen diffusivity
  • Thermal shock resistance
  • Dynamic corrosion resistance
  • Exudation
  • Stoning potential
  • Glass vapour attack
  • Blister potential
  • Abrasion resistance
  • Creep
  • Work of fracture
  • Fracture toughness
  • Biaxial flexural strength
  • Thermal Expansion
  • Density
  • Specific Heat
  • Pyrometric Cone Equivalent (PCE)
  • Refractoriness under Load
  • Permanent Linear Change (PLC)
  • Particle Size Determination (PSD)

As well as the wide range of BSEN, ISO and ASTM standard tests, we can devise bespoke tests to meet customers' needs.
