Dr. David Pearmain

Expertise in: Materials for Energy

Technical Consultant

David graduated from the University of Birmingham with a MSci in Physics; his research dissertation looked into the use of DNA molecules as templates for the self assembly of gold nanowires.

David has recently submitted and passed his PhD in Nanophysics, where he studied novel electron microscopy techniques for the structural characterisation of nanoparticles at the atomic scale. This involved work with industrial partners to design efficient structural screening techniques of Palladium catalyst particles.

With expertise in microscopy and nanostructures/materials, David's interest at Ceram involves developing new technologies for energy reduction within the sintering process of ceramics to be applicable at the industrial scale.  He is also looking into refractory testing methodology and standards.
