Watts Blake Bearne Lecture

This year's Watts Blake Bearne Lecture - traditionally presented by a member of the manufacturing industry to an audience drawn from the British Pottery Managers' Association - will be given by Don Moran of Portmeirion Potteries.

His chosen topic is 'Let's Do Some Training!' and he will present the paper at 7.30pm on Tuesday 2 October 2001 at the North Staffordshire Medical Institute, Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. He will discuss the way training in the industry has changed over the past 30 years from the days of 'the levy' to the present day.

He will be emphasising that the main crux nowadays is about planning training to meet organisational objectives and then evaluating whether it worked. There will be many examples of how different training can be evaluated.

It is understood that Don will provide copies of his presentation for distribution at the end of his presentation.

Anyone interested in attending - or requiring details on how to join the British Pottery Managers' Association - can email: georgejackson@mac.com
