Rotating Head Calibrating Machines Offer Benefits in Tile Smoothing

Tyrolit Vincent - a company in the Italy based Tyrolit Group - has announced the launch of a series of calibrating rollers on rotating heads.

The company says that in the past few years, the field of gres tile smoothing has witnessed extraordinary improvements, particularly in calibration. Traditional calibrating modules were composed of transverse spiral rollers which need replacement when the tile format changes, since the diamond milling operation must fit the material to calibrate.

This system, adds Tyrolit, increased machine idle time, resulting in production drop-off and higher costs; furthermore, it required the availability of different roller formats in stock, which meant a significant commitment in terms of tied capital.

The company says that the revolution of rotation head calibrating machines has solved many of these problems. It is no longer necessary to have the equipment replaced every time the tile format changes; the heads operate radially on any format ranging from 30cm x 30cm to 60cm x 60cm tiles, and make the beam swing according to the tile format.

Other benefits claimed for the system include:

• Complete and even wear of the diamond tool.

• Improved milling capacity, resulting in higher line speed.

• Better quality for surface finishing, resulting in lower abrasives consumption.

• Increased tile flatness.

• Quieter operation of the machine.

In order to meet users' grinding and finishing needs, Tyrolit's R&D Department has worked in the same direction to provide a full range of tools, differing in terms of geometry - saw blade packs, inclined segmented and continuous band discs - as well as regarding the binder.

The company says that the packed discs calibrating rollers on rotating heads offer high precision and reliability, achieved thanks to a strong know-how and to its partnership with machine manufacturers.
