Start-Up of New South African Tile Plant

Working in close collaboration with Sacmi (Imola, BO, Italy), the Ceramic Industries Group has continued to put its expansion policies into practice.

Ceramic Industries has now successfully started up its latest plant, the 'Pegasus' factory which, with an output of 24,000 square metres per day of ceramic tile, has significantly reinforced the company's already strong position in South Africa.

Sacmi has supplied all the key machines. For grinding and spray drying there is an MTC088 mill - featuring 100% sintered alumina grinding media - and an ATM110 spray dryer. The firing department has two FMS2850 kilns which, at over 140 metres long, are amongst the biggest ever supplied in this sector. The plant also features the innovative, wide clearance PH3020 presses and multi-level ECP307 dryers.
