Sacmi Provides Plant for USA's No 1

Sacmi (Imola, BO, Italy) has announced the start-up of an important new plant for Dal-Tile, part of Mohawk Industries and the largest producer and distributor of tiles in the USA.

The plant, installed in Oklahoma and undoubtedly one of the biggest installations ever to have been built by the Sacmi Group in the USA, will allow Dal-Tile to reinforce its position in what is fast becoming one of the most interesting tile markets.

Sacmi closely followed the development of all the relative systems and will be installing numerous machines, such as the MTC108 mills that can be used with a 100% sintered alumina pebble load. Pressing will be carried out by six PH3020 wide clearance presses plus PH1500 presses for the production of trims (e.g. bull-nose and strip tiles).

These machines will feed EVA983 and EVA712 dryers respectively. There is also an impressive array of nine glazing machines to ensure maximum flexibility. Firing will take place in two kilns with a 2850mm infeed width and a length of over 120 metres. Bull-nose tiles will be fired in an FMS201 kiln.
