Rotor Mills Will Handle Small-Scale Production

Robust floor models in its rotor mill range introduced by Retsch GmbH (Haan, Germany) are said to be suitable for the coarse and fine grinding of soft, fibrous and also hard materials. A final fineness of down to 40 microns (depending on the material) can be often achieved in the first working step, according to the company. The three mills - SR 200, SR 300 and SK 100 - can all be used for small-scale production and even for continuous size reduction in online operations.

The SR mills are available in two speed versions. The SR 300 allows for a significantly higher throughput with a larger fraction of fine material. They are suitable for construction materials, chemicals, coal, feed pellets and pharmaceuticals and many other materials. For the size reduction of samples with a high oil or fat content, a special distance rotor has been developed. The larger grinding gap ensures a reduction in frictional heat, thus allowing for excellent grinding results.

The Cross Beater Mill SK 100 offers high throughput performance with a final fineness down to 80 microns. It is suitable for crushing hard and brittle materials such as ceramics, ores, glass and minerals. Retsch adds that an outstanding feature is the mill's simple and safe operation: the grinding chamber door is equipped with a quick-release lock so that changing the bottom sieves and cleaning the mill takes only a few minutes. The SK 100 features an access barrier that also prevents sample splash-back and a motor brake which brings the motor to a standstill in less than 0.5 seconds.
