New Website for Purchase of Standard and Speciality Refractories

A newly launched website, operated by several investors aligned with the refractory market, represents a coalition of various suppliers and manufacturers providing single or multiple products within set product categories. RefractoryDepot.com aims to act as a conduit; a portal via which a strong platform of assembled sellers may make special selective and/or continuous offerings of their products to the market. The organisers of the site say that it "simply makes a modest commission off sales that are generated through its portal".

They add that because the resources and its associated costs are shared, the site allows for high volume pricing at low quantities, enabling users of many basic refractory needs at the small to mid-level annual consumption rate to take advantage of the same type of steep discounting that high volume buyers would receive.

Additionally, vendors who list on the site are able to assign special access codes to their long-term customers who wish to procure via the site and these access codes initiate special pricing grids that reflect a long-standing seller/buyer relationship and accommodate accordingly in adjusting discounts.

Originator of the site and principal in its operation, Todd Lobaugh, said that it was important to note "that any given manufacturer can deeply discount a price, beating even the greatest discounts pre-negotiated among regular customers".

He said that these situations are either spurred by an overstock in inventory a certain supplier wishes to clear or by any other market factor that drives the price lower. "This makes the site extremely competitive," Lobaugh continued, "and in the most beneficial way to the buyer - in huge savings - no matter what they are buying or how much."

Both buyers of refractories and sellers are invited to visit the site as it is now active and instruction on either how to list, or purchase, is clearly defined.
