Imerys Increases Prices on Performance Minerals & Fine Ceramics Products
Imerys Performance Minerals and Fine Ceramics division has announced the introduction of energy-related price increases on kaolin, ball clay and ground calcium carbonate (GCC) products manufactured in Europe with effect from 1 October 2004.
In the last 12 months, the indexes of energy prices have risen dramatically, well above the historic trend. This has impacted on freight and production costs, where energy is a major component. This cost increase is over and above the general inflationary pressures that, year on year, affect mineral processing companies.
Imerys stated that these cost increases had already impacted on its current business and, as a result, it would introduce average price increases of 6% on its Performance Minerals and Fine Ceramics products.
