Large Expansion at Omani Tile Factory

The Oman Daily Observer has reported that Al Anwar Tiles Co SA is planning an RO 3.3 million expansion project to double its factory's capacity.

The factory in Nizwa, Sultanate of Oman, currently has an installed capacity of 3 million square metres of wall, floor and border tiles and the expansion project will add 4 million square metres.

General Manager A Shamsuddin said the expansion would raise the company's market share in the Gulf Arab region, a market which is estimated at 60 million square metres and to be growing at 4% per year.

Al Anwar Tiles earlier declared a net profit for 2002 of RO 1.05 million, compared with RO 620,000 in the previous year. Sales volumes rose to 2.84 million square metres from 2.56 million square metre and turnover increased from RO 3.61 million to RO 4.15 million.
