Intelligent Noise & Vibration Sensor

Anovis-lite, an intelligent noise and vibration sensor designed specially for the production line environment, has been announced by the Industrial Automation division of MEDAV GmbH (Uttenreuth, Germany), a company well known for its specialist systems used in the heavy clay sector.

Intended for use in automated test stands for engines, electric motors, gearboxes and similar rotating machines, Anovis-lite captures and reduces structure-borne vibration or airborne noise signals to a few characteristics that check each product for assembly and component faults during the test cycle.

These characteristics, which represent a measure of the abnormality of a specimen (or of targeted components within it), are then compared in the test stand computer with preset tolerance limits to produce a quality assessment of the tested unit. Results are listed alongside other test-bed data such as torque, oil pressure and temperature in the test report for each unit.

Division head Horst Jonuscheit said: "The reduction of the acoustic test by Anovis-lite to a simple tolerance comparison means that it can be treated just like any other 'standard' measurement channel. The need therefore for front-line factory personnel experienced in the complexities of signal processing and test system operation is removed, as are the numerous functions that are paid for but never used when conventional analysers are employed".
