Nabaltec First Half Figures

The Nabaltec Group (Schwandorf, Germany), a leading supplier of mineral-based flame retardants and raw materials for technical ceramics, was able in the first six months of 2008 to improve revenue by 21.3% to €51.9 million (first half of 2007: €42.8 million).

The Functional Fillers division earned €35.0 million (first half of 2007: €28.3 million) and the Technical Ceramics division earned €16.9 million (first half of 2007: €14.5 million). EBITDA improved in the first six months of 2008 by 21.3% from €4.7 million to €5.7 million. EBIT increased by 32.0% to €3.3 million (first half of 2007: €2.5 million), resulting in a 6.1% EBIT margin on the total performance. The half-year result after minority interests reached €1.5 million (first half of 2007: €2.0 million).

Gerhard Witzany, Member of the Management Board of Nabaltec AG, said: "We are pleased that despite the slowdown in the market environment, we were able to continue our revenue and earnings growth in the first half. This performance, however, will not carry over unrestrictedly to the second half”.

The global market slowdown, particularly in Spain, Great Britain and USA based on the real estate crisis, has led to an overall slowdown in revenue growth. The Management Board is expecting that revenue of over €100 million will nonetheless be generated in fiscal year 2008, thus continuing to achieve double-digit growth. Consolidated earnings are likely to be additionally burdened by the anticipated increases in raw material, energy and logistics prices that cannot be fully offset by price increases.
