Morgan Advanced Ceramics to Present Technologies

Examples of product technology that did not exist only two years ago will feature in the presentation of Morgan Advanced Ceramics on the TASK stand at the MATERIALICA 2003 exhibition (16-18 September 2003, Munich, Germany).

The company's products are based on high purity and toughened aluminas, aluminium nitride, zirconia, silicon carbide, silicon nitride, pyrolitic boron nitride and glass ceramics. Competencies include metal-to-ceramic assemblies, metallised ceramics, sophisticated braze alloys, metal injection moulding and surface engineered coatings.

Applications are as diverse as cardiac pacemakers, laparoscopy instruments, X-ray cathode seals and reflectors for solid state lasers. Missile centrifugal switchgear and ion propulsion systems highlight leading edge capabilities.

Everyday applications include ceramic shafts, bearings and thrust rings for central heating pumps and pistons for reciprocating pumps. Fluid handling markets include sealing plates for domestic single-lever and quarter-turn taps and faucets, and counterface and thrust rings for a variety of domestic appliances. For the automotive sector, seals are produced for water pumps and pneumatic cab levelling systems.

Morgan's electrical insulators feature high quality thermostat and temperature limiter bases, coil formers, heat resistance supports and halogen lamp holders.

In engineering production, applications for Morgan's ceramics range from arc welding and plasma cutting nozzles, projection and weld pins and stress relief jackets to jigs and fixtures for heat treatment, cast risers and cores.
