Malvern Instruments Achieves New ISO 9001:2000 Certification

Malvern Instruments has been successful in achieving ISO 9001:2000 certification well ahead of the December 2003 deadline. The new certification follows an extensive LRQA audit procedure, during which the company's business management system was also approved to the TickIT Guide Issue 5 software development quality standard.

ISO 9001:2000 will replace previous 1994 versions of ISO 9001, ISO 9002 and ISO 9003, for which there is currently a transition period. National accreditation bodies around the world have confirmed that accreditations to the 1994 versions will be withdrawn in December 2003.

Amongst other requirements, meeting the new standard places further emphasis on the interaction between the organisation and its customers. It also demands even greater involvement of senior management.

Commenting on the certification, Operations Director Alan Bragginton said: "Malvern Instruments' activities have always been customer-focused and the close relationship that we develop with our customers is critically important in the development, manufacture and support of our products and in influencing the way that we do business.

"The timely achievement of the ISO 9001:2000 certification reflects the dedication and hard work not only of our business management team, who are committed to the continuing development of our processes, but also to every employee in the company."
