Luminex 993tm - The New Material For Micro Cartridge Heaters And Thermocouples

Morgan Advanced Ceramics (MAC), a world-leading supplier of innovative ceramic solutions for the medical, telecommunications, semiconductor and aerospace markets, is a technology leader for Thermal processing applications in a variety of industries.

Morgan Advanced Ceramics Luminex 993TM (Magnesium Oxide) has an outstanding combination of physical and electrical properties that make it extremely well suited to the manufacture of cartridge heaters, thermocouples and heating elements.

This new material Luminex 993TM has been specially designed and developed for micro cartridge heaters as it exhibits the following properties:

· High volume resistance at elevated temperatures
· Very low sulphur content
· Low moisture absorption

By exploiting these properties, the material can be applied in a very thin layer between the sheath and the conductive wires of the micro cartridge, yet it still performs with exceptional electrical insulating properties. The reduced sulphur content reduces the likelihood of corrosion when in contact with some metals, and the material will not distort as a result of swelling from moisture absorption during annealing.

Luminex 993TM is an appropriate ceramic material for thermocouple applications, as the material has been engineered to be compatible with Nickel-Chrome alloys.

The combined properties of Luminex 993TM and MAC's ability to produce extruded components with features smaller than 0.50mm to tolerances of +/-0.025mm and less makes this material a leader in micro-cartridge and thermocouple technology.
