Tecnargilla to be 'Larger and More International'

Commenting on the Tecnargilla exhibition, which will open its doors on 1 October 2004 in Rimini, Italy, the Chairman of Acimac, Pierluigi Ponzoni, said: "Tecnargilla's enormous appeal derives from the fact that Italy has the world's largest industrial ceramic system, with a total turnover of more than 10 billion euro, about 4,000 companies (including small ornamental ceramic workshops) and 64,000 employees.

"Above all, Italy is the international leader in the ceramic machinery sector, with 173 companies that generate an annual turnover of 1,402 million euro, 69.5% of which is generated from exports worldwide. Likewise, Italy is the world leader in terms of tile quality, innovation and design, a sector for which the important showcase is Cersaie (held in Bologna from 28 September to 3 October)."

Tecnargilla and Cersaie partially overlap to allow industry professionals to visit both conveniently.

The exhibition's organiser, Rimini Fiera SpA, said that Tecnargilla 2004 would be larger and more international than the previous show in 2002 and would offer more specialised content in terms of exhibitor offerings.

More than 770 exhibitors will be taking part and Rimini Fiera said that participants would comprise virtually all the Italian and foreign companies operating in this sector. 37.7% of exhibitors are said to be foreign companies (compared to 30.5% in 2002) and they come from 34 countries. The best represented countries are Germany, Spain, China, Turkey, UK, USA and France.

Exhibitors will occupy a gross floor space of 83,000 square metres, up 3.4% on 2002, in all 14 halls in the exhibition centre, including the two new ones that have just been opened. There will be two special sections: Kromatech, the section devoted to ceramic colour, design and creativity (launched in 2002); and Claytech, an event reserved for heavy clay manufacturing technologies.

"In an overall difficult scenario," said Chairman of Rimini Fiera, Lorenzo Cagnoni, "where even some of the largest international exhibitions of manufacturing goods are experiencing major difficulties, the results achieved by Tecnargilla are highly significant and bode well for the success of the event. Tecnargilla is the leading international exhibition in this sector and will be the focus of many of the efforts made by ceramic industry supplier companies."
