New Insulating Foam from Thermal Ceramics

Cease Fire 2000 is described as a unique, two-component product that upon installation produces a highly insulating foam with a thermal conductivity equivalent to ceramic fibre. Component A is dry powder that is mixed with water to form a semi-viscous slurry and this is then combined with Component B, a mild phosphoric acid, at the pumping nozzle. This exothermic reaction produces a 1093°C temperature rated foam that is approximately 1.5 times its original volume. Since the reaction is complete and very little residual water is left, steam spalling on the initial heat-up is not a concern.

Cease Fire 2000 can be purchased as convenient kits consisting of pre-measured amounts of the two components, enabling final placement of approximately 1.3 cubic feet of the product. These kits contain proper amounts of each component to metre at a 4:1 ratio (slurry:acid) through a Cease Fire 100 Pump. This electrically powered, easily transported pump is said to be ideal for delivering material for small installations.
