Ibstock Brick Issues New 'Get It Right' Leaflets

Ibstock Brick continues to reinforce its commitment to promoting good design and site practice through the issue of two new leaflets in the 'Get it Right' series. These bring the number of guidance notes to 12 and explain the skills of construction 'Pillars and Piers in Clay Brickwork' and 'Setting out Brickwork'. The fundamentals of both practices are described in a logical and comprehensive way using clear diagrams and tables. References for more complex work are also provided.

This announcement follows the recent introduction of TilebrickTM, an extruded clay unit with a tile-shaped front face, described as a product cleverly designed to replicate a decorative tile-hung exterior wall, but without the need for additional skills or materials.

As one solid unit, Tilebricks do not suffer from cracks or breaks like normal wall-hung tiles. The tiles' tapered edges allow for effective rain-proof joints whilst maintaining a highly durable mortar-free front face.

The innovation is said to allow a single bricklayer to continue a wall without breaks from ground-level to eaves, using traditional brick and block construction.

There are currently six colour options and two textures. These can be mixed and matched to provide course features or colour-contrasting shapes. In addition, Ibstock offers a range of traditional decorative tiles - such as Club and Diamond - plus some new ones, to enable detailing within courses.
