Tecnargilla Reports Encouraging Start

At Tecnargilla, which closes on 5 October, exhibitors confirmed the optimism expressed in the inaugural address given on 1 October by Acimac chairman Pierluigi Ponzoni, who anticipated positive 2004 end-of-year results for the Italian ceramic machinery industry which generates 70% of its turnover from exports.

According to the exhibition organiser, Rimini Fiera SpA, thousands of visitors - most notably from Asia, the Middle East, Europe and South America - thronged the stands during the first day of the show and were expected to stay on in Rimini for the following few days. The Italian visitors traditionally arrive at the weekend after finishing their own work as exhibitors at the Cersaie show in Bologna.

Rimini Fiera said that the strong international scope of Tecnargilla was confirmed not just in terms of exhibitors (with foreign companies amounting to almost 38% of the total) but above all in the number of visitors.

Right from the first day, the show also saw the attendance of numerous heavy clay manufacturers visiting the new Claytech section of the show. More than 90 of them attended the conference on the first afternoon which was organised by Andil-Assolaterizi (Italian Brick & Tile Manufacturers' Association) and Acimac (Italian Ceramic Machinery Manufacturers' Association). This explored the latest developments in legislation on the environment, seismic standards and energy saving. The ancillary events also proved popular, in particular the guided tours of five of the leading Italian brickworks.
