Early Bird Export Success for Kiln Builder

Drayton Beaumont Kilns Ltd (Trentham, Stoke-on-Trent, England) announced on 16 September 2003 that it had made the earliest possible breakthrough at the Ceramitec exhibition in Munich, the world's most important show for ceramic supplies companies, which had just opened that morning.

Signed virtually as the official opening tape was cut, the company secured a €1 million contract to supply two tunnel kilns for a major ceramic client in Iran.

Simon Diliberto, a member of Drayton Beaumont's experienced export sales team, said: "We're delighted to have such a bright start. Good groundwork is important and we have worked hard since staging a seminar in Tehran in August for 100 delegates from the Iranian ceramic industry.

"Although the exhibition opened just this morning, we have been here a few days early to prepare for it and found the opportunity to open talks on the tunnel kilns deal before Ceramitec opened."

Drayton Beaumont took a much larger stand than when this show last took place in 2000 and invested a substantial sum in the venture. Nevertheless, the company pointed out that while always hoping for a positive response, the placing of an order like this one on the first day is unusual.

"I'm sure that the tradition of sound technical ability and value for money associated with kiln building in Stoke-on-Trent played its part," commented Managing Director, Steve Beaumont. "Signing such a prestigious contract just as the show opens has given us great heart and our team out here is looking forward to a hard working week selling the message that British technology in ceramics is still regarded as the best."
