DuPont Names dmc2 Graphics to Distribute Cromalin Art

DuPont's Color Proofing business has appointed dmc2 Graphics Inc (Galion, Ohio, USA) as its North American distributor for Cromalin Art for decorating ceramics with durable, photo-quality images. Cromalin Art is based on technology widely used in the printing industry for colour proofing.

dmc2 Graphics Inc (formerly Schilling's Graphics Inc) is a wholly owned subsidiary of dmc2 Degussa Metals Catalysts Cerdec Corporation, headquartered in Washington, PA, USA.

The company was selected by DuPont to introduce and distribute Cromalin Art in North America because its parent company dmc2 is a world-wide leader in the development and manufacture of colours and precious metal preparations to decorate glass and ceramic items. dmc2 Graphics Inc itself is a leading supplier of screen-printing pre-press services including photo tooling, frames and screens and currently offers a complete line of printing supplies through a catalogue and via the Internet.

With Cromalin Art, it is possible to decorate single ceramic objects as well as large surfaces such as walls, pools and counter tops in hotels, restaurants and other public or private facilities. The product spreads special ceramic-based toners without any limit for tint and saturation over photopolymer adhesive films. The films are transferred over a surface of pottery, stoneware, glass, porcelain or porcelainised metal to create tiles, mosaics or to decorate art objects with high-definition images.

Firing the objects in programmable kilns at high temperatures burns off the organic film and fixes the toners by fusing them onto and into the surface. The result is said to be brilliant, high quality images that are resistant to superficial abrasions, atmospheric agents, water and solvents.
