Ceramic Supplies & Technology on Show to World This Week

Tuesday 16 September 2003 sees the opening of the Ceramitec 2003 exhibition in Munich, Germany and the organising company - Messe Mnchen GmbH - is confident that ceramic experts from all over the world will flock to the event, which closes on 20 September. This year, there are 765 exhibitors (down 7% on 2000) from 41 countries (up from 39 in 2000) presenting the latest equipment, systems, processes and raw materials for the ceramic manufacturing industry and also powder metallurgy. Messe Mnchen added: "This show, which covers the entire spectrum of ceramics production and attracts a very high level of international participation, will again be the world's leading business and communication platform for the sector".

International participation has once again risen - by 2% - since the last event and now stands at an impressive 65%. Leading exhibiting countries after Germany are Italy with 192 exhibitors, Great Britain (57), France (43), Spain (38), USA (23) and Holland (19).

Interest this year has also been particularly strong from Turkey and China. The number of companies taking part from Turkey (14) has more than doubled since 2000. Exhibitors include the engineering companies Unimak and Remas and the raw materials suppliers Esan and Kalemaden. The 15 Chinese companies taking part include the Keda Group which has stepped representation from China right up with its booking of 900 square metres of space.

In what has been a very tough period for the industry, Messe Mnchen will hope that visitor numbers hold up to a satisfactory level. In 2000, a total of 28,660 trade visitors from 85 countries came along to Ceramitec. The proportion of visitors from outside Germany on that occasion went past the halfway mark (51%) for the first time.

During the first three days, visitors will also be able to see MATERIALICA - the 6th International Trade Fair for Material Applications, Surfaces and Product Engineering - at the Munich Trade Fair Centre. A ticket to attend both Ceramitec and MATERIALICA is available for €19.

Just before the exhibitions, on 15 September, the adjoining International Congress Centre Munich will host the 2nd International Congress for Silicate Ceramics, co-organised by the Deutsche Keramische Gesellschaft and the American Ceramic Society. There will also be, during the show, two powder metallurgy workshops: 'Modern Sintering Technology' and 'Powder Injection Moulding'.
