Barbieri & Tarozzi at Tecnargilla 2004

Barbieri & Tarozzi Group (Formigine, MO, Italy) will exhibit at next month's Tecnargilla 2004 exhibition in Rimini, Italy with an impressive 800 square metre stand. Here, the group will showcase its technological innovations, including:

-- the new 'CLOCK' press with enlarged opening for greater production capacities.
-- laser guided vehicles for the automatic handling of pallets of finished products.
-- the widest tile kiln in the world.
-- a new storage machine.
-- the innovative automatic and digital tile inspection systems, designated 'Smart Vision'.
-- the latest generation 'Smart Line' sorting line, which is combined with an artificial vision system.

The main focus of attention, however, is expected to be B&T's Grestream, described as the most revolutionary technological innovation to emerge from the group. This consists of a new forming system for large format porcelain stoneware tiles. Visitors to the stand (Hall D1, Stand 072) will be able to see many examples of the best Grestream products in a spectacular 20-metre gallery created within the B&T stand.

Grestream derives from the modern re-exploitation of the plastic moulding technique, combined with the new and presently very popular decorating trends seen in porcelain stoneware. The system, based on single and double pressing, is capable of achieving full mass fluid movement of various colours, combined with the superficial and controlled application of mixed natural and semi-processed materials.

The next stage of incorporating the various components - which are 'sunk' in the plastic and multi-coloured substrate - creates a range of unique effects which B&T says are impossible to obtain with dry pressing techniques. B&T added that the objective limits of the traditional flakes and/or granules are a problem of the past, thanks to the possibility of matching 'sheets' of chromatically different material on the same substrate.

Barbieri & Tarozzi Group turnover in 2003 was €128 million (up 3.2% from 2002) and overall the group employs 700 people, of whom 450 work in Italy. It owns six production centres and after-sales/spare parts assistance centres in Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, China and Turkey, plus a widespread sales network in the main markets, such as in Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Taiwan and Vietnam.
