US Company Facilitates High Temperature, Low Cost Brazing

AremcoloxTM 502-1100-UF - a new low cost, machinable alumino-silicate ceramic produced by Aremco Products Inc (Valley Cottage, NY, USA) - is now used to produce high temperature brazing fixtures for applications up to approximately 1150°C.

It is said to demonstrate exceptional mechanical, electrical and thermal properties, including a compressive strength of 25kpsi, dielectric strength of 100V per mil, and good thermal conductivity. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is said to make it ideal for thermal shock applications.

The product can be used in oxidising, reducing or vacuum atmospheres. It does not outgas in ultra-high vacuum or react with most molten metals, salts and acids.

Aremcolox 502-1100-UF is machined easily using conventional tooling and, after a simple firing procedure, is fully dense and resistant to around 1150°C. Stock sizes include plates from quarter inch to one inch thick; rods from quarter inch to seven inches diameter; and bars from one inch by one inch to four inches by four inches. Aremco also fabricates parts to customer prints.
