Alcan Announces Post-Merger


Alcan Aluminium Limited, Montreal, Canada, has announced the proposed post-merger organization and management team of Alcan, to take effect following the completion of the share exchange offer, between Alcan and Alusuisse Group Ltd. (algroup) expected in mid-October.

The future $US 12.4 billion organization will be one of the world's largest aluminum and packaging companies with a low-cost position in primary aluminum, advanced aluminum fabrication facilities globally and a $US 2.8 billion global flexible and specialty packaging business. Alcan will be well positioned to create opportunity for future growth and profit, to generate added value for all customers and shareholders as well to fuel career opportunities for its 53,000 employees spread across 37 countries.

"The combination of Alcan-algroup will leverage the numerous complementary strengths of the two organizations and create a platform for growth and participation in future industry restructuring", said Jacques Bougie, President and Chief Executive Officer of Alcan.

Alcan Business Groups

Alcan will be composed of four business groups that will be responsible for the value creation of the different business units comprising their group. They will provide the strategic leadership for growth and the operating oversight to profitably deliver on customer, shareholder and employee expectations.
