Acimac Plans Promotions in Russia, India and Iran

Acimac - the Italian Ceramic Plant and Machinery Manufacturers' Association - has organised three major appointments for the autumn, each of which is geared to a strategic market for the ceramic industry.

An advanced training course for ceramic tile industry technicians, focusing on Grinding & Pressing, will be held in Moscow, Russia from 17-19 October 2005. The initiative is the third of this kind organised in Moscow in the last 18 months, demonstrating the growing importance of the Russian market. On 20 October, Italian companies will present their flagship technologies and meet their Russian partners. Interest in Russia is not surprising: tile production there increased from 25 million sq.m. in 1999 to 104 million sq.m. in 2004, with a 27% increase in the last year alone.

A training course entitled 'The tile production process: applied technologies and innovative developments' for Indian ceramic industry technicians will be given in the Gujarat region from 21-24 November 2005. Gujarat is an important area for ceramic production that has seen an improvement in quality in recent years and a significant proportion of Italian machinery exports are concentrated there. India, now the sixth largest ceramic tile producer in the world, has seen a rapid growth in output due to the increase in production of Gujarat, reaching 270 million sq.m. in 2004.

From 8-11 December 2005, Acimac's promotional activities will concentrate on Iran with an institutional presence at the Cerafair exhibition in Tehran. An Italian stand will host companies interested in increasing and consolidating their links with the Iranian market. Alongside the Acimac stand, other Italian companies will be taking part with their own stands or will be hosted by their agents or importers. Iran is currently one of the leading importers of Italian technology, which in turn has played a key role in sustaining the dramatic increase in local ceramic production over the past few years. Iran's ceramic tile output doubled in the space of just five years to reach 120 million sq.m. in 2003 and a further increase is expected which will see output reach 300 million sq.m. by 2007.
