Millions of won to be Won

The 3rd International Ceramic Competition will be the main event of the World Ceramic Biennale 2005 Korea (CEBIKO). The organisers claim this competition is now the world's most prestigious ceramics competition, drawing more visitors and internationally acknowledged ceramic artists from more countries than any other.

Participation also means competing against the world's greatest ceramic artists for the largest cash prizes offered anywhere for ceramics, according CEBIKO - prize money which has been hiked substantially (doubled, mostly) for 2005.

The Grand Prize winner will receive 60 million Korean won; with 20 million won going to the Gold Prize winner and those awarded Juror's Choice designations each receiving cash prizes of 1 million won. In 2005, the number of Bronze Prize winners and Special prize winners will be reduced from 8 to 6 and 16 to 8 respectively.

In order to step up promotion of prize winning artists, CEBIKO will fully assume its responsibility and role as a permanent sponsor of prize winning artists of the competition for their continued growth. In 2006, CEBIKO will hold a special exhibition of prize winning works to introduce and promote the artists to the world. Special exhibitions of prize winning works will continue to be held for years to come.

The catalogues of the International Ceramic Competition are sent to museums, galleries, universities and other ceramic-related organisations throughout the world. Data on the artists who participate in the competition is used as valuable material for planning the World Ceramic Bienniale.
