Web-Based Resource Launched for Thermal Expertise and Technology

Evitherm has been launched by five principal European contractors with a further 29 European organisations - including universities, other centres of excellence and industry - being members of the project consortium. Evitherm is being developed as a new thermal resource for industry, using the internet to link users quickly and easily to the expertise and technology they need.

The partners explained that thermal expertise and technology in Europe are available from national metrology institutes, industrial research and academic organisations, commercial and other bodies. However, the accessibility and take-up of these valuable resources by industry is highly variable and support for thermal technologies in some industries has been seriously lacking in the past.

These factors lead to inefficient, less competitive and more environmentally polluting industrial processes.

Evitherm aims to be the authoritative source of thermal knowledge for industry, enabling it to increase the skill level of its technical staff and improve its products and processes.

Evitherm will employ a website that will guide users quickly and easily through the vast array of information, expertise, products and other thermal resources that are available and will provide expert guidance to enable users to find the right solution to their technical problems.

The project is currently under construction and user views are sought. There is an on-line questionnaire and early alert registration.
