UK Brick Awards Shortlist Announced

The Brick Development Association (BDA) has released the names of the shortlisted entries in the 2005 Brick Awards. A total of 64 projects in 11 categories are now vying for the prestigious accolades which will be announced on 2 November 2005 at the gala presentation ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.

Shortlisted in this year's Brick Awards are designs by some of the UK's top architectural practices. Familiar names such as Allies & Morrison, Feilden Clegg, Caruso St John and Robert Adam Architects are just some of the practices that submitted striking brickwork projects.

This year's entrants have not only been more numerous than in last year's awards, said the BDA, but display a bolder, more contemporary character. BDA Director Michael Driver commented: "The entire industry is thrilled that the eye-catching projects submitted for the Brick Awards continue to show sophistication and innovation. Brick may be a traditional material, but as these exciting projects show, it is one that satisfies the aesthetic and technical requirements of the 21st century".

The shortlist can be viewed on the appropriate pages of the BDA website:
