Tecnargilla Draws Record Number of Visitors

Tecnargilla 2002, which closed on 5 October, showed final figures of a record 29,689 visitors, up 7% from the last show three years ago. The occupied exhibition space of 80,000 square metres gross was up 14.2% (44,000 square metres net, up 12.8%) and the number of exhibitors was 521, also higher than in 1999.

The show was attended by 18,992 Italian visitors (up 14.3%) although the number of foreign visitors - standing this time at 10,697 - was down 3.8% from last time. The countries of origin of the largest number of visitors from outside Italy were, in order, Spain, Germany, China, Turkey and Iran.

Acimac chairman Franco Stefani said: "In spite of an unfavourable world market, the results of this Tecnargilla are encouraging and will boost confidence in the sector regarding expectations for the coming months. It is premature to speak of recovery of the market, but this exhibition has certainly given us grounds for optimism".

"The total number and the figures for commercial contacts at Tecnargilla 2002 speak the language of success," said Lorenzo Cagnoni, the Chairman of Rimini Fiera SpA. "The exhibition has returned to Rimini, where it has been staged in one of the most modern and functional exhibition centres in Europe and in a geographical area which over the years has increasingly acquired levels of excellence in the field of services. As a result, Tecnargilla offered visitors an outstanding commercial forum and the opportunity for an excellent business trip."

The organisers said that the major new feature this year - the Kromatech exhibition - was also a big success. They added that it totally fulfilled the expectations and requirements of the exhibitors who found it to be a specialist showcase capable of underscoring the essential contribution that the ceramic colour and aesthetics sector makes to the ceramic industry.
