Southern Clay Products Increases Prices

Effective October 1 or as contracts allow, Southern Clay Products (Gonzales, TX, USA) increased list and off-list prices of Claytone® and Tixogel® organoclay additives from 5% to 15% in response to escalating raw material and freight costs.

“Price increases are never pleasant,” acknowledged SCP Vice President of Sales & Marketing Don Poucher. “Nevertheless, our customers have remained loyal because they recognise our deep commitment to the industry, as demonstrated through our continued investment in research and development to bring new products to market and infrastructure improvements to improve our processes.

“In addition, we stay in close partnership with our customers, keeping them up to date and educated regarding changing market dynamics. Two key examples in which we have provided detailed and transparent information include the surging cost of freight and the ongoing impact of the emerging bio-fuel industry on bleachable fancy tallow, a key intermediate in the production of organoclay additives. We believe that our customer bonds are strengthened by candid, two-way communication.”

Southern Clay Products is part of Rockwood’s Clay Additives division and a leading supplier of smectite-based functional additives to several markets. Rockwood Holdings Inc is a leading global specialty chemicals and advanced materials company.
