SCI Engineered Materials Inc (Columbus, OH, USA), a manufacturer of high quality sputtering targets for select markets in the physical vapour deposition industry, has announced the appointment of Douglas Jeter to the position of Marketing Manager.

Dan Rooney, President and Chief Executive Officer, commented: "We are very pleased to have Doug Jeter join SCI’s management team. His efforts will be initially focused on identification of opportunities to leverage the company’s core competencies. Doug’s experience in assessing new technologies and establishing clearly defined paths to commercialization will be particularly beneficial as we accelerate implementation of our growth strategy in photonics and thin film batteries to also include additional niche markets within the physical vapor deposition industry".

Doug Jeter has more than 15 years of professional experience, which includes successful implementation of programmes that contributed to increased sales of industrial products and technological services. He is on the adjunct faculty in the School of Management at Capital University (Columbus, OH, USA). Prior to joining SCI, he was a Team Manager/Technology Leader for micro-joining at the Edison Welding Institute where he directed a team of 10 professionals.

From 2001 to 2005, Mr Jeter worked at the Battelle Memorial Institute, where he served as a Project/Program Manager and marketed Electronics and Avionics Systems services to new clients, resulting in over US$5 million in new contracts. In another role at Battelle, he was a Commercialization Program Manager with responsibilities for assessment of early-stage technologies for commercial potential, consultation regarding commercialisation strategies for promising technologies and contributions to Battelle’s commercialisation processes.

Previously he held positions with increased responsibilities at Owens Corning and affiliate companies between 1995 and 2000 that included substantial international activities. He served as a Composites Planning Manager, which involved establishing a team for a start-up division in Asia where his efforts contributed to significant sales growth and improved operational performance. Mr Jeter was also a Process Engineering Leader for the design, prototyping and testing of innovative packaging systems.
