Morgan Launches New Piezoelectric Ceramic

Morgan Electro Ceramics is launching a new piezoelectric ceramic, designated PZT807 at the Electronica exhibition taking place from 9-12 November 2004 in Munich, Germany. It will also display its new dielectric ceramic, D34, and its comprehensive range of high voltage and radio frequency (RF) capacitors, microwave and piezoelectric ceramics.

PZT807 has been designed for use in the high power ultrasonic transducer, such as those used in 'Push-Pull' type cleaning transducers and medical scalpels. Its unique composition means that it has low internal energy losses which in turn reduce heat loss when driven at high power levels for long periods of time. Thermal failure is a common problem in transducers as it affects the performance and life.

The company will be demonstrating its ability to provide piezoelectric ceramic components with a variety of electrode materials and patterns. Silver electrodes lapped to a high level of flatness help to reduce energy losses at mating faces in high power transducers such as those benefiting from the new PZT807 material.

The new dielectric D34 material has been developed to meet the need created by demand for high performance base station cavity filters in wireless cellular/radio systems. The Qo of less than 40,000 allows the cavity filter size to be reduced while achieving low insertion loss. The material's frequency drift is inherently stable with temperature and can be supplied to compensate for frequency drift within the filter by specifying an alternative option for Temperature Coefficient.

Morgan Electro Ceramics also offers a wide range of dielectric and coaxial resonators to meet the demands of microwave applications for high performance, low cost devices in small, medium and large quantities and suitable for a range of other applications, including frequency filters used in wireless cellular/radio systems, dielectric resonator oscillators and microwave radar systems.

The company's capacitors are used in power supplies, tuned circuits, coupling circuits and electrostatic spray equipment.
