Panaria Group Chooses Lamina Innovative Technology

Panaria Group decided to install Lamina innovative technology in its Fiorano factory in Italy. In this special time frame, where the market is experiencing clear signs of slowing down, the historic choice of Panaria group shows the will and need to rely on an innovative product such as Lamina, because its features let it distinguish itself from traditional ceramics.

This choice comes after two years of partnership cooperation between technology provider System Group and Panaria Group. This is a further confirmation of the important goals reached by the group - founded by Franco Stefani - thanks to Lamina technology: it is “the thinnest ceramic slab ever”, an innovative and vanguard material: the increase of required volumes proves and confirms the positive feeling of this technology even by the ceramic market, added System.

Up to now, Panaria Group has been marketing the Kerlite line, with the Cotto d’Este brand, produced in the factory of Laminam SpA. After three years of surveys and research work that proved the market receptiveness towards this new product, in its Fiorano factory Panaria Group decided to start, on its own part, the direct production of large volumes. The agreement with System Group for the supply of Lamina technology includes a first complete system, to be installed and operated within the next year, with the option to purchase two further systems within the next three years. This is the first complete Lamina system to be sold in Italy.

“We wanted to make a transformation of our role of technology suppliers,” explained Franco Stefani, President and Founder of System Group. “We thought about an innovative product, produced with an innovative process, to find out new spaces on old markets and get new applications in other different fields. This is why we stake our alls, we invested in research to find out the best technological solutions. Now the results prove us right.”

Lamina technology has been created with a target: manufacturing the largest and thinnest ceramic slab ever. The shaping method is the core of this exclusive, highly automated productive process, with all steps that are at the forefront as far as technology and operation is concerned: a staff of researchers at the Lamina division of the System Group has been working to steadily improve and perfect the whole process since 1996, when it was registered as an applied research project at the Ministry of Industry.

Lamina slabs are large sized and very thin: 1m x 3m or 1.2m x 3.6m and only 3mm thick. This is a hygienic product, not etched by chemicals and resistant to wear, highly flexible, impervious to UV rays, fire and frost proof. It is environment friendly and fully recyclable.

The possibility of approaching Lamina to other materials opens a wide variety of application possibilities both outdoors and indoors. Dimensions and features of these slabs dramatically reduce weight problems linked with laying, transport costs and all those costs linked to logistics and thus to warehouses.
