Pamesa Expands in Spain and Brazil

The steady acquisition of Sacmi technology is continuing to give a boost to the manufacturing capabilities of Spanish tile producer Pamesa. Group technicians have just been concluding the assembly of a new porcelain tile production line. The new line consists of a 4,900-ton press with an inter-column clearance of 2,450mm, capable of producing four 450mm x 450mm pieces per cycle.

Also installed is an FMS 2850/140.7 kiln with an output capacity of 8,000 sq.m. per day. Pamesa specialises in the production, distribution and marketing of porcelain floor and wall tiles. The Spanish plant is in Almazora, Castellon and currently employs 800 people.

The company also owns Pamesa Brasil which started producing red body floor tiles at the start of the year. Present line capacity is in the order of 9,000 sq.m. per day and the plant features a PH-3020 press and an FMS 2670/138 kiln. A similar line will start up in production in 2005.
