Newtech Launches Digital Printer for Ceramic Tiles

Newtech Srl has unveiled its debut digital machine - the four-colour KeraMagic - designed for printing directly on to ceramic tiles.

The inkjet printer, which was launched at Tecnargilla in Rimini, Italy on 30 September, incorporates greyscale Xaar 1001 inkjet printheads to carry out drop-on-demand jobs in a single pass.

The company says the KeraMagic can output a variety of fluids to produce tiles effectively in short-run volumes.

The KeraMagic is available in two configurations – the 350mm width model and a 700mm width model. It can print at up to 25m per minute at resolutions up to 360dpi and with eight levels of greyscale.

Newtech President Roberto Carassai said the KeraMagic delivers "high definition, flexibility, speed of set-up and printing, reliability and cost of production".

He added: "Its unique design means the printer can handle a wide range of inks and fluids which gives our customers the freedom of choice”.

Xaar European Sales Manager Steve Knight said the 1001 printhead "enables digitisation of what has been a traditionally analogue process, while delivering everything the market needs to make digital printing onto ceramic tiles a commercial reality".
