Ircon Offers Thermal Imaging Solution

For laboratory, R&D and process control applications, Ircon (Amersfoort, Holland) is now offering its Image Analysis software package which is said to enable users to capture thermal data at an adjustable speed up to 60 frames per second. Analysing the data received over a serial link from Ircon's Stinger thermal imaging camera, this PC software handles temperature measurement over the range 0°C to 2500°C.

A fully configurable package, it allows users to define up to 50 specific areas of interest (AOIs) for each thermal image targeted by the camera. From each AOI, minimum, maximum and average temperature data can be collected in numeric and graphical formats, for display and export to third party spreadsheet and database applications.

To closely match the shape of the object targeted by the thermal imaging camera, AOIs can be configured as standard geometric shapes or can be created freehand using standard point-and-click graphic tools. By defining an AOI in the form of a line drawn across the thermal image, the Image Analysis software can display temperature as a 2D graphic profile.

Trend data for even the most complex process can be stored, adds Ircon, for VCR style viewing using simple Play, Rewind and Fast Forward controls. Product test results can be analysed off-line using playback speeds that enable accurate determination of points of failure and alarm set points to help optimise product pass/fail conditions.

Each AOI can be configured with independent emissivity and alarm settings. Alarm signals generated by the heating and cooling processes can be viewed directly on the PC screen, archived to hard disk or linked via add-on I/O interface modules to provide inputs for process control systems.

The software runs on a PC equipped with a 1.5GHz or faster Pentium IV processor and a 19-inch colour monitor with a minimum 1024 x 768 pixel resolution.
