IoM Invites Nominations for Ceramics Awards

The Council of the Institute of Materials (IoM) is inviting nominations for the IoM Medals and Prizes for 2001. These include prizes for personal achievement, as well as for published work, across the whole range of the Institute's areas of interest. Certain awards recognise contributions to specific areas of materials science and technology, whereas others acknowledge services to certain sectors of the materials industry. Several awards are not restricted to a particular material or technology, and some are specifically intended for younger people at the start of their careers.

This year sees the launch of a new award, the Roy T Holland award, in recognition of meritorious service in manufacture and technology within the traditional ceramics industry.

The awards are open to all - except in certain cases, they are not restricted to members of the Institute, or to any nationality. The Institute is keen to receive nominations from as broad a cross section of the materials community as possible.

Nominations must be made on the 2001 Awards Nomination Form, and must be received by the Institute before 8 January 2001. The award winners for 2001 will be approved by Council at the end of March, and the awards will be presented at suitable occasions throughout the year.

A full list of the awards in the ceramics field available for 2001 can also be viewed on the Institute website at www.materials.org.uk/pressab/awards/list.htm
