Multi-Element Analysis of Hydrocarbons

Bruker AXS GmbH (Karlsruhe, Germany) has launched OilQuant, a universal precalibrated programme for full quantitative XRF analysis of liquid and solid fuels - these can be primary refined or waste materials.

Although optimised for liquid fuels, it can also be applied to other light matrix materials such as polymers and plastics. OilQuant contains universal calibrations for almost all typical elements in petrochemical products, from sodium to lead, covering concentrations from typical trace element (ppm) to percent concentration levels for sulphur and chlorine.

Results obtained by the S4 Explorer and the OilQuant method are said to be comparable to those measured according to the DIN, ISO and ASTM standards for WD XRF analysis of petrochemical products.
