Massive Potential Market for Housewares Show

The next 'Housewares and Gift Fair South America' will take place in Sao
Paulo, Brazil from 16-19 August 2003.

The sectors covered by this exhibition are:
* Tableware (porcelain, glass, silver)
* Household Utensils
* Decorative Accessories
* Household Articles
* Business Gifts
* Packaging & Commercial Installations

The organiser, Grafite, says the fair is growing from year to year as a
direct reflection of the expansion of the market in South America. Apart
from Brazil, with a population of 170 million and a great potential for
purchasing as one of the 10 major economies in the world, great potential is
also shown by the continent. Here there are around 370 million people
spread over 12 countries that generate a GDP in the order of US$1.264
trillion.

The 25th edition of the exhibition, which took place in August this year,
gathered together over 700 exhibitors. Some 130 of these came from abroad,
representing 15 different countries. The exhibition attracted professional
buyers from 32,000 stores from Brazil and abroad.

New designs in tableware were launched by companies such as Porcelana Vista
Alegre, Mara Correa, Projeto 1 and Esmalglass do Brasil.

Parallel activities include a series of talks given by specialists in the
sector, where modern retail techniques and fashion trends are addressed.
There is also the announcement of winners (14 in all in 2002) of the
Housewares & Gift Design Awards.
