Boom Continues for Heavy Clay Division, Says Sacmi
It’s not been so long since Sacmi, Italy’s biggest producer of traditional ceramic production plants, made its official international debut as a provider of technology to makers of bricks and similar products. Nevertheless, just two years after the fledgling Heavy Clay Division entered the industry, the Imola-based group says it is already feeling the need to strengthen its sales network as the result of growing demand for complete installations, especially in foreign markets.
“Our entry onto the heavy clay sector,” said Division Sales Manager Alberto Castelfranco during Claytech 2006, “is highly important; our extensive know-how and experience has allowed us to engage in high-level competition both in Italy and on international markets where we already have major installations up and running”. Already in 2006, after just one year of business, sales generated by the new Heavy Clay Division exceeded even the most optimistic expectations, said the company.
More recently the Heavy Clay Division has made sweeping changes to its sales network in order to enhance its international market presence. There has been a new distribution of areas, accompanied by the recent arrival of the new area manager, Domenico Burchi, who will largely be dealing with all EU countries (except Romania and the Baltic States) and various European areas that are not EU members (except the Russian Federation); he will also be dealing with the fast emerging markets of the Balkan States and Central/South America.
Sacmi’s Heavy Clay Division offers a complete range of services to the brick industry, from turnkey plants to plant modernisation, from raw material analysis/research to plant engineering solutions that are tailor-made to meet personalised production goals. Various plant types are available: from Rapid Heavy Clay – which is said to offer outstanding production flexibility, allows producers to manufacture large sizes of guaranteed planarity and offers a wide range of aesthetic effects – to Traditional Heavy Clay, a reliable solution that is ideal for most market-available raw materials and provides good output capacity. Then there are the ‘Single-layer’, ‘Pre-fabricated’ and ‘Innovation’ production cycles, the latter offering all the advantages of semi-dry pressing.
