EuroPM 2007 in Toulouse Takes Off for Delegates

The dynamic city of Toulouse, France, was the backdrop for the 16th annual Euro PM Congress & Exhibition event, organised and sponsored by the European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA).

Toulouse, home of Airbus and the hub of France's aviation industry, provided an excellent stage for Europe's key international powder metallurgy event.

The Euro PM2007 Congress & Exhibition featured a packed technical programme that attracted in excess of 200 Oral and Poster presentations and over 600 participants. The exhibition area featured more than 60 exhibiting companies from around the world. “This year's exhibition has been a real success, as we have attracted all facets of the PM industry supply chain to allow for delegate and exhibitor interaction,” said Jonathan Wroe, EPMA Executive Director.

During the Congress Plenary Session, the new EPMA President Ingo Cremer presented a 'Review of the PM Industry from a European Perspective'. Additional plenary speakers were Dr Rainer Rauh from Airbus Toulouse, who spoke on ‘New Opportunities for Advances in Aircraft Structures’ and Alrik Danielson, President and CEO of Höganäs AB, who presented ‘The Challenge for the PM Industry: Create and Capture Value’. The EPMA Distinguished Service Awards for 2007 were presented to Dr Joan Antoni Bas, Ames SA and Dr Gian Filippo Bocchini, a PM consultant from Italy.

The Euro PM2007 Congress Dinner was held at the La Médiathèque, which provided stunning sunset views of the city. The gala dinner provided an amenable venue for further busy discussion in a relaxed atmosphere.

“Toulouse has been an excellent host city for our delegates and very well supported by exhibiting companies” commented Jonathan Wroe. “Work is already underway for next year's Euro PM event, Euro PM2008 which will be held in Mannheim, Germany from September 29th to 1st October 2008.”
