Delcam Achieves New Sales Record

The CADCAM specialist Delcam PLC (Birmingham, England) has achieved its best ever first half sales and increased its profitability. Sales for the first six months of 2004 were £10.3 million, up 5% on the previous best H1 sales of £9.8 million achieved in H1 2003. This is in spite of the dollar/pound exchange rate weakening by 11% compared with the same period in 2003.

Pre-tax interim profit was £660,000, an increase of 31% compared with H1 2003. This increase was achieved even though the company continued to increase its investment in software research and development, which it did with the aim of giving customers the best possible products.

"This philosophy is being welcomed by our customers," claimed Chairman Tom Kinsey. "Despite the difficult times that continue to be faced by manufacturing industry in many of our key markets, an increasing number of our users are taking out maintenance contracts to ensure that they receive regular enhancements to their software."

Delcam has also continued the expansion of its reseller network. Recent developments have included a move to larger offices by the North American subsidiary, the conversion of the reseller in Thailand into a joint venture, the appointment of additional resellers in China and the opening of extra offices in India.
